The short version

  • BidDog is a search index. We point you to the auctioneer's own page, and you bid there.
  • We are not a party to the auctions we index, and we never bid for anyone.
  • Listing details can change. Check them on the auctioneer's page before you bid.
  • Posting a sale is $10 flat. Nothing renews, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.
  • Local Pick Up: you pay the seller at the shop or booth. BidDog never handles that payment.
  • Bidding on a Local Pick Up item here is binding. If you win and do not pick up, your card can be charged (section 3e).
  • BidDog credit from rewards and referrals has no cash value and is never paid out in cash.
  • Tennessee law governs these terms.

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and BidDog ("BidDog", "we", "us"). They cover biddog.co, the emails we send, and any plan you buy from us. By using BidDog you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use BidDog.

Our privacy policy and refund policy are part of these terms.

2. What BidDog is, and is not

BidDog is a search index for auctions. We gather facts about auction lots from many auctioneers and platforms, help you find the ones you want, and link you to the auctioneer's own page. We point. You bid.

For every auction we index:

  • BidDog is not the auctioneer, the seller, or a broker, and is not a party to the auction or the sale.
  • BidDog never bids for anyone, never holds money for the sale, and takes no commission on it.
  • Your bids, purchases, payments, buyer's premiums, taxes, pickup, and shipping are between you and the auctioneer, under the auctioneer's own terms.

BidDog does not run the auctions it indexes. The one place to bid on BidDog itself is a Local Pick Up item a seller puts up for auction, and section 3e covers that. There too, the seller is the seller and BidDog is not, and BidDog never takes the sale price. What is different there: BidDog runs the bidding, can charge a no-show to the winner's card, and holds the seller's share of that charge until they set up payouts.

3. Listing information

Each listing on BidDog shows facts such as the title, category, location, dates, and price, plus one thumbnail image, and links to and credits its source. Most of this comes from auctioneers' public pages, feeds, and submissions.

Listings can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and prices, dates, and availability change quickly. Always check the details on the auctioneer's page before you bid. We do not inspect, verify, or guarantee any item, seller, or auction.

3a. Sales you post on BidDog

Anyone can post their own yard sale, estate sale, or auction on BidDog for $10 flat per sale, and businesses such as shops and booth vendors can list items for Local Pick Up with a 30-day shop sale. When you post, you are responsible for your listing:

  • It must be accurate, and you must have the right to sell the items and to share the photos, text, and video links you add.
  • Yard sales are for individuals selling their own things, not businesses. A business posts in Local Pick Up, or as an estate sale or auction.
  • Your sale must follow local laws and rules, including any permits, sign rules, and neighborhood rules that apply to you.
  • Do not post stolen, counterfeit, recalled, or illegal items, drugs, alcohol, tobacco or vaping products, food or drink, live animals, or adult content.
  • Firearms and ammunition are not allowed in yard sale, estate sale, or Local Pick Up posts. An auction that includes them must be run by a properly licensed auctioneer and follow every law that applies.

To help buyers find your listing, we use automated tools to write a short title and caption for each photo you upload. They describe only what is visible in the photo and are added to your listing's search text. If one is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

Your street address shows on your listing only if you choose to show it. If you run an auction on BidDog, the winner gets your pickup address either way (section 3e). Buyers deal with you directly: BidDog is not a party to your sale and does not handle payment for it, apart from the no-show charge in section 3e. We may edit, pause, or remove any posted sale that breaks these terms, and anyone can report a listing.

What you pay is in section 7. Our 30-day money-back guarantee applies, as described in the refund policy.

3b. Local Pick Up

Local Pick Up is for businesses only: antique shops, flea market booths, pawn shops, resale stores, and other local companies that list items buyers come and get in person. If you are selling on your own, post in Yard Sales & More.

  • BidDog never handles payment for a Local Pick Up item. The buyer and the seller settle up at the shop, booth, or other location, using whatever payment the seller accepts there. The sale price always goes to the seller. The one charge BidDog can make is the no-show charge on an item won at auction (section 3e).
  • BidDog does not hold, reserve, inspect, or deliver items, and cannot promise an item is still there. Buyers: call or text the seller before you go.
  • Sellers: keep each listing accurate, including the item, its condition, the price, where to find it, and your hours. Mark it sold when it sells. The item and the sale are your responsibility.
  • Everything in section 3a still applies to Local Pick Up, including the items that are not allowed.

3c. BidDog credit: rewards and referrals

We sometimes give sellers BidDog credit: for example, for a live listing with plenty of photos and a video link, or for referring another seller who goes on to pay for a listing.

  • Credit only. Credit is a promotional balance on your BidDog account. It has no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, and is never paid out in cash. We will tell you when and how you can use it.
  • Referrals. One referral credit per referred account, ever. Referring yourself, or another account you control, does not count.
  • Review and reversal. We may hold credit for review, refuse it, or reverse it if we see abuse or a mistake, such as duplicate or fake accounts, the same payment card on both accounts, or a listing removed for breaking these terms.
  • We may change or end these programs at any time. When we do, we will update this section.

3d. Videos you send us

When you send us a video through our video form, you confirm that you own it or have permission to share it, and you give BidDog permission to post it on BidDog's YouTube channel and social pages.

  • Do not send a video that shows people who did not agree to be filmed, or music you do not have the rights to use.
  • We do not have to post any video we receive.
  • Changed your mind? Email hello@biddog.co and we will take your video down from our pages.

3e. Bidding on Local Pick Up

A Local Pick Up seller can put an item up for auction on BidDog instead of listing it at a set price. BidDog is not the seller of the item. The seller is, and the sale is between the winner and the seller. These rules apply to every bid.

  • A bid is binding. Every bid is a promise to buy the item at that price if you win. You can not take a bid back. There is no automatic bidding, and a bid in the last 5 minutes moves the end to 5 minutes after that bid.
  • Card on file. To bid you need a card on file, and you agree to the no-show charge below when you add it. Your card is not charged to bid or to win. Stored card data sits with Stripe: BidDog keeps only the card's brand, last four digits, and a fingerprint.
  • Pay at pickup. The winner pays the seller at pickup, by the deadline shown, with a payment the seller accepts. BidDog never takes the sale price. The winner gets the seller's pickup address, even if the listing does not show it.
  • The no-show charge. If you win and do not pick up by the deadline, the seller can report a no-show. We email you the amount and the date, and you have 48 hours to dispute it. After that, BidDog charges your card your winning bid. 50% of that charge goes to the seller and the rest to BidDog, and Stripe's fee comes out of BidDog's part. We never charge without a seller's report. If no report comes in within 14 days after the deadline, the win closes and nobody is charged.
  • Disputes. If you did pick the item up, or something else went wrong, press "I picked it up / dispute this" before the dispute window ends. We do not charge while a dispute is open. We review it and either uphold the no-show or waive it, and our decision is final as far as BidDog is concerned.
  • Strikes and bans. A confirmed no-show is one strike, whether or not the charge goes through. A waived no-show is not a strike. At 2 strikes, the account and the card can no longer bid.
  • Sellers. Once an auction has a bid you can not pause it, end it, or change its terms, and you must honor the winning bid. Hold the item for the pickup window. You have a duty to report honestly: press Picked up when the item is picked up, and report a no-show only if it is true.
  • False reports. A false no-show report breaks these terms. We may refund the buyer, take back any share paid to you, and remove your listings or your account.
  • Seller shares are paid through Stripe. You set up your bank details on Stripe's own pages, and BidDog never sees them. If you have not set up payouts, BidDog holds your share until you do.

4. Accounts and email

You do not need an account to search. If you create one, you sign in with a one-time link we email you; there is no password. Use an email address you control and keep it secure, because anyone who can read that inbox can sign in as you.

We email you sign-in links, the saved-search alerts you ask for, receipts, and important notices about your account. You can change or stop alerts at any time from your alert settings or the unsubscribe link in any alert.

5. Using BidDog fairly

Please do not:

  • scrape, copy, or bulk download BidDog, or use it to build a competing index or dataset;
  • overload or interfere with the service, or try to get around our security, rate limits, or bot protection;
  • submit false removal requests, false claims to an auction company, or someone else's information;
  • pretend to be an auction company or person you are not;
  • bid on your own item, or place a bid you do not mean to honor;
  • use BidDog for anything unlawful.

We may limit, suspend, or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.

6. For auctioneers

If you claim an auction company page, you confirm you are allowed to act for that company. When you send us listings, a logo, a bio, or other content, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you let us display it on BidDog and in our emails and search results so we can point buyers to you. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

You can opt out of BidDog completely, or have specific lots removed, through our removal form. We act on every request within 2 business days. You can also block our crawler in robots.txt, as described in our bot policy.

7. What you pay

Searching BidDog is free, having your lots indexed is free, and claiming an auction company page is free. To post a sale you pay $10 flat, once, through Stripe. It is not a subscription, nothing renews, and we keep no card on file for it.

  • Sales. The fee for an estate sale, yard sale, or auction covers that one sale until it ends. You can move its dates up to 7 days past its current dates, for rain or a change of plans, and moving them earlier brings that limit in with them. Past that it is a new sale, and it needs a new fee to stay up.
  • Local Pick Up. $10 buys a 30-day shop sale with unlimited items. We email you 3 days before it ends and offer another 30 days. If you do not buy them, your items pause when it ends. Nothing is deleted, and an auction with bids runs to its close.
  • Every fee comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. A refund ends what the fee paid for. See the refund policy.
  • A paid listing does not guarantee any number of views, clicks, bids, or sales.
  • If we change the fee, the new fee applies to what you buy after the change. What you already paid for keeps what it bought.
  • A subscription you already hold keeps running on the terms you signed up under until you cancel it in the billing portal. Any placement it pays for is labeled on BidDog, and any price lock we promised is honored as promised.

8. Our content and other people's

The BidDog name, Scout, our logos, and the design of the site belong to us. Listing facts and images belong to their sources, and auction company names and marks belong to their owners. We show them only to identify, credit, and link to the source.

BidDog links to auctioneers' websites and auction platforms. We do not control those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

10. Disclaimers

BidDog is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not promise that BidDog will always be available or free of errors.

11. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, BidDog is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. BidDog is not liable for any loss connected to an auction, an item, a bid, or a sale, or to the conduct of an auctioneer, buyer, or seller.

Our total liability for any claim relating to BidDog is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

12. Your responsibility

If you break these terms or the law while using BidDog, or send us content you did not have the right to share, and that leads to a claim against BidDog, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using BidDog at any time. To delete your account, email hello@biddog.co from the address on the account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as the disclaimers and limits on liability, still apply after that.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as BidDog changes. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will also email account holders or post a notice on the site before the changes take effect. If you keep using BidDog after that, the updated terms apply.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute relating to BidDog will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you and BidDog agree to their jurisdiction.

Before filing a claim, please email us first. Most problems can be solved quickly, and we will try in good faith to resolve yours within 30 days.
